Key Ingredients
  • 1 Banana (preferably slightly soft)
  • 3 sheets Rice paper
  • 1 Tbsp Peanut butter
  • 1 piece Butter (approx. 10g)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, prepare a ripe banana, as its sweetness will be more concentrated. Slice it into rounds about 0.3 cm thick. Avoid slicing them too thinly, as they might break apart; aim for a medium thickness.

Step 2

Prepare a bowl of warm water and briefly dip the rice paper sheets. Be quick, as over-soaking can make the rice paper tear easily (dip for about 10-15 seconds, then remove).

Step 3

Lay a softened rice paper sheet flat and carefully place the banana slices onto it. It’s important to work quickly to prevent the rice paper from drying out or becoming too sticky.

Step 4

Gently fold the rice paper to enclose the banana slices. If one sheet isn’t enough to fully cover the banana, use a second sheet of rice paper, overlapping it with the first to create a secure wrap. (If you’re using larger rice paper sheets, one might be sufficient.)

Step 5

You’ll have a banana snugly wrapped in rice paper. Now, let’s add the delicious flavor of peanut butter. Lightly spread a thin layer of peanut butter over the outside of the wrapped banana. Speed is key here too!

Step 6

Dip another sheet of rice paper in warm water, then place the peanut butter-coated banana onto it and quickly wrap it again. This double-layer wrapping ensures extra crispiness and helps prevent the filling from leaking.

Step 7

Melt the butter in a frying pan over medium-low heat. Place the double-wrapped banana onto the pan and let it fry until golden brown. Keep an eye on it to prevent burning, ensuring both sides cook evenly.

Step 8

Flip the banana over and continue to cook the other side until it’s beautifully golden and crispy. You should hear the rice paper crackle as it crisps up. Once it’s golden brown all over and has a satisfying crunch, it’s ready! Serve immediately while warm for the best texture.
