Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, briefly blanch the Vienna sausages in boiling water for about 1 minute. This helps to remove excess fat and makes the sausages plumper. Rinse the blanched sausages in cold water and set aside to cool.

Wash the zucchini and carrot, remove any seeds from the zucchini, and finely mince both vegetables into pieces smaller than a grain of rice. Mincing the vegetables finely makes them easier for children to eat and ensures they blend well into the rice balls.
Step 3
Heat a little cooking oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the minced zucchini and sauté until it becomes translucent. Then, add about 1/3 teaspoon of salt for seasoning. Add the minced carrot and continue to stir-fry for another 2-3 minutes until the carrot’s color becomes vibrant. Avoid overcooking to maintain a slight crispness.
Step 4
In a large bowl, place the warm cooked rice. Add the sautéed zucchini and carrot. Stir in 1 teaspoon of perilla oil, a pinch of salt, and optional sesame seeds. Mix everything thoroughly with a spatula or spoon until the rice is well seasoned.
Step 5
Take a portion of the seasoned rice and flatten it in your palm. Place one blanched Vienna sausage in the center. Gently shape the rice to completely enclose the sausage, forming a round or oblong rice ball. You can use a bit more rice if your child particularly loves sausages.
Step 6
Coat the shaped rice balls evenly with panko breadcrumbs. This coating will give them a delightfully crispy texture when pan-fried. For extra visual appeal and aroma, you can lightly sprinkle with dried parsley flakes.
Step 7
Finally, heat a generous amount of cooking oil in a frying pan over medium-low heat. Carefully place the breadcrumb-coated rice balls into the hot oil. Pan-fry them, turning occasionally, until they are golden brown and crispy on all sides. Your delicious pan-fried sausage rice balls are now ready to enjoy! They taste best when served warm.
