Crispy Sautéed Napa Cabbage
Quick and Easy Diet Side Dish: How to Make Delicious Sautéed Napa Cabbage
Are you looking for a healthy and delicious diet meal for the summer? I’m also diligently on a diet right now. When dieting, I always try to fill my meals with vegetable-based side dishes. Recently, my mother sent me a generous amount of Napa cabbage, so I made this simple yet flavorful sautéed cabbage dish. It’s perfect not only for dieting but also as a staple side dish for everyday meals. The crisp texture and savory taste are exceptional!
Main Ingredients
- Napa cabbage 400g (approx. 1/4 head)
- Cooking oil 3 Tbsp
Seasoning
- Soy sauce 3 Tbsp
- Sugar 1 Tbsp (adjust based on cabbage sweetness)
- Salt (flavoring salt) 1 pinch
- Gochugaru (Korean chili flakes) 2/3 Tbsp
- Soy sauce 3 Tbsp
- Sugar 1 Tbsp (adjust based on cabbage sweetness)
- Salt (flavoring salt) 1 pinch
- Gochugaru (Korean chili flakes) 2/3 Tbsp
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, wash the fresh Napa cabbage thoroughly and prepare it. Slice it into strips about 2cm wide for a nice presentation. If you cut it too thinly, it might become mushy when sautéed, so aim for a moderate thickness.
Step 2
For cabbage with tightly layered leaves, washing it after slicing helps to thoroughly clean any dirt from between the layers. Rinse it meticulously under running water.
Step 3
After washing, drain the cabbage well in a colander. Excess water can prolong the cooking time and make the dish taste bland, so gently shake off any remaining moisture.
Step 4
Now, let’s get ready to sauté. Add 3 tablespoons of cooking oil to a frying pan and heat it over high heat (strong fire).
Step 5
Once the pan is sufficiently hot, add all the prepared Napa cabbage. Reduce the heat to medium (medium fire) and sauté evenly for about 2 minutes, or until the cabbage becomes slightly translucent and wilts by about half. Be careful not to overcook, as it will lose its crispness.
Step 6
After about 2 minutes, add a pinch of salt (flavoring salt) for basic seasoning and mix gently.
Step 7
Next, add 1 tablespoon of sugar. If the cabbage itself is naturally sweet, you can reduce the amount of sugar. Add just enough sweetness to enhance the natural flavor of the cabbage.
Step 8
Add 3 tablespoons of soy sauce to bring in a savory depth of flavor. The cabbage will turn a more appetizing color after adding the soy sauce.
Step 9
Finally, add 2/3 tablespoon of gochugaru (Korean chili flakes) to give it a hint of spiciness and enhance the visual appeal.
Step 10
Once the seasonings are added, the cabbage will quickly wilt and may release some liquid. If there’s too much liquid, the dish can become bland. Increase the heat back to high (strong fire) and quickly stir-fry for about 2 minutes until most of the moisture evaporates. Taste and if it feels a little bland, add a tiny bit more salt to adjust to your preference.
Step 11
Your crispy and delicious sautéed Napa cabbage is ready! Enjoy this healthy dish as a side for warm rice or as part of your diet meal plan.
