Crispy & Savory Bacon Egg Rolls: An Easy Snack Recipe
How to Make Delicious Bacon Egg Rolls at Home
These bacon egg rolls, with their crispy exterior and soft, creamy filling, are incredibly easy to make. They’re perfect as a simple snack for kids or when you’re craving something satisfying. Here’s a recipe for an appealing snack that can even serve as a light meal.
Main Ingredients
- 3 large eggs, at room temperature
- 2 slices of white bread
- 2 strips of fresh bacon
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, place the 3 eggs, which have been sitting at room temperature for about an hour, into a pot and boil them for 14-15 minutes until fully hard-boiled. Ensuring the eggs are thoroughly cooked is key.
Step 2
To make peeling easier, briefly immerse the boiled eggs in cold water for about 5 minutes. This step helps to remove the shells smoothly.
Step 3
Once peeled, place the hard-boiled eggs in a bowl and mash them gently using a fork or a mashing tool until they form a soft consistency. Aim for a fine mash with minimal lumps.
Step 4
Add 1.5 tablespoons of mayonnaise, a pinch of salt, and a pinch of black pepper to the mashed eggs. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly combined. Taste and adjust the seasoning as needed.
Step 5
Trim the crusts off the bread slices. Then, use a rolling pin to flatten each slice of bread as much as possible, making it thin and pliable. This prevents the rolls from bursting when you form them.
Step 6
Spread the prepared egg salad evenly over the flattened bread slices, leaving a small border at the edges. Avoid overfilling to make rolling easier.
Step 7
Starting from one end, tightly roll up the bread with the egg salad filling inside, ensuring the filling stays contained. Roll it up firmly, similar to making a sushi roll.
Step 8
Wrap each rolled bread piece with a strip of bacon, covering it completely. Overlap the ends of the bacon slightly to secure it, preventing it from unraveling during cooking.
Step 9
Preheat your air fryer to 180°C (350°F). Place the bacon-wrapped egg rolls in the air fryer and cook for 5 minutes. Then, flip them over and cook for another 5 minutes, for a total of 10 minutes. This will result in crispy bread and perfectly cooked bacon. Keep an eye on them during cooking to prevent burning.
