Crispy & Sweet Air Fryer Bread Crust Rusks
Easy Air Fryer Rusks Recipe Using Bread Crusts
Turn leftover bread crusts into a delicious snack! With an air fryer, you can quickly and easily make crispy, sweet rusks. This is a perfect recipe for kids’ snacks or when you need a quick sweet treat.
Ingredients- Bread crusts: Appropriate amount (approx. for 10-15cm loaf)
- Cooking oil (or olive oil): 2 Tbsp
- Sugar: 3 Tbsp (can be adjusted to taste)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, carefully separate only the crusts from the bread. You can use the soft inner part of the bread for other dishes, while we’ll use the firm crusts to make rusks.
Step 2
Slice the separated bread crusts into bite-sized pieces, about 1.5cm to 2cm thick. If they are too thin, they might burn easily, so maintaining a moderate thickness is good.
Step 3
Place the sliced bread crusts into a large bowl. This makes it easier to mix the seasoning in the next step.
Step 4
Pour 2 tablespoons of cooking oil or olive oil over the bread crusts. It’s important to ensure the oil coats them evenly.
Step 5
Sprinkle 3 tablespoons of sugar over the bread crusts. If you prefer a sweeter taste, you can increase the amount of sugar slightly.
Step 6
Using your hands or a spatula, mix the bread crusts thoroughly so that the oil and sugar are evenly distributed. Mixing well ensures the rusks will be delicious all over.
Step 7
Line the air fryer basket with parchment paper and spread the coated bread crusts in a single layer, making sure they don’t overlap. Overlapping can prevent even cooking.
Step 8
Set the air fryer to 180°C (350°F) and cook for about 8 minutes. It’s a good idea to check the bread crusts halfway through and adjust the time as needed to prevent burning.
Step 9
After 8 minutes, you’ll have perfectly golden and crispy bread rusks! The sweet and savory aroma is mouthwatering. Enjoy this simple, homemade, healthy snack to your heart’s content!
