Crispy & Sweet Coconut Shrimp
Super Simple Air Fryer Recipe Using Frozen Coconut Shrimp
The popularity of air fryers continues to soar! With more affordable prices and a wider variety of brands and sizes available, it’s easier than ever to find the perfect air fryer for your home. Alongside the rising popularity of air fryers, there’s also been an explosion of incredibly simple frozen food recipes you can make right at home. Today, I’m excited to share a particularly satisfying coconut shrimp recipe that I’ve been enjoying lately. [Air Fryer Used: Philips HD9650/96] + Tip: As cooking power can vary between different air fryer models, it’s always a good idea to refer to your specific air fryer’s app or recipe guidebook for recommended cooking times.
Ingredients
- 1 pound frozen coconut shrimp
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
I discovered this incredibly simple product at a new large supermarket that only requires about 10 minutes of cooking in the air fryer. While there are many shrimp products available, this was my first time seeing coconut shrimp, so I immediately decided to buy it. The package contains 500g, which, considering only the edible parts (excluding the tails), amounts to about 1 pound. The usual price is $13, but I got it on sale for $9.99 – a fantastic deal, don’t you think?
Step 2
The product recommends 8-10 minutes of cooking time in a conventional oven. However, since items can overlap in an air fryer, it’s best to allow a bit more cooking time. This recipe is so convenient because you just pop it in and cook, and you’ll have delicious coconut shrimp that look just like they came from an izakaya or pub. I’ll definitely be using this product often in the future.
Step 3
First, I’ll line the air fryer basket with parchment paper specifically designed for air fryers, which I recently purchased. This makes cleanup so much easier later on.
Step 4
Next, I’ll add the frozen coconut shrimp to the air fryer. It’s important to arrange them so there are small gaps between them. This ensures that all sides get evenly crispy during cooking.
Step 5
Now, let’s set the temperature and time. Cook the shrimp at 375°F (190°C) for 14 minutes.
Step 6
After cooking, I checked and found that the undersides were perfectly crispy too! If you check halfway through and notice the bottom isn’t as crisp as you’d like, simply flip the shrimp and cook for an additional 5 minutes for extra crunch.
Step 7
I personally highly recommend pairing these coconut shrimp with plum sauce! The slightly tart and sweet flavor of the plum sauce perfectly complements the shrimp. Dip them generously, and they’ll disappear in no time. Thanks to this air fryer recipe, I’m enjoying frozen foods more often. Enjoy your delicious meal today! 🙂
