Ingredients

  • 6-7 slices of bread (adjust to your preference)
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter (approx. 90g)
  • 5 tablespoons granulated sugar (approx. 75g)
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 resealable bag or plastic bag

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, let’s prepare the sweet cinnamon sugar coating for our churros. In a clean resealable bag or plastic bag, combine 5 tablespoons of granulated sugar and 1 tablespoon of ground cinnamon.

Step 1

Step 2

Seal the bag securely and gently shake it to ensure the sugar and cinnamon are evenly mixed without any clumps. This mixture will be perfect for coating your churros.

Step 2

Step 3

Now, it’s time to cut the bread into churro shapes. Take 6 slices of bread and, using a knife, cut each slice into approximately 5 equal strips, creating long, stick-like pieces. Aim for a thickness of about 1.5 to 2 cm.

Step 3

Step 4

Heat a frying pan over low heat. Add 1 tablespoon of butter and let it melt slowly. It’s important to keep the heat low to prevent the butter from burning.

Step 4

Step 5

Once the butter is fully melted, place the cut bread sticks into the pan. Toast them on both sides until they are golden brown and slightly crispy. Keep an eye on the heat to prevent burning, aiming for a delicious, toasted color.

Step 5

Step 6

When it’s time to flip the bread, add another tablespoon of butter to the pan. Coating both sides evenly with butter as you toast will make the exterior even crispier and more flavorful. Repeat this process, adding butter each time, until you’ve used all 6 tablespoons of butter.

Step 6

Step 7

Transfer the golden brown and crispy bread sticks into the bag with the pre-made cinnamon sugar. It’s best to do this while the bread is still warm, as this helps the sugar mixture adhere better. Close the bag and shake it well to ensure the cinnamon sugar evenly coats all sides of the bread sticks.

Step 7

Step 8

Voila! Your delicious bread churros are ready. Pan-frying them in butter gives them a crispy texture similar to freshly fried churros, and the sweet cinnamon aroma is absolutely delightful, offering a unique snack experience. These are wonderfully easy to make at home and make for a fantastic treat for the whole family!
