  • Approx. 4cm unsalted butter (about 30g)
  • 2 Tbsp Mayonnaise
  • 4 Tbsp Granulated Sugar
  • 2 Tbsp Minced Garlic

Prepare a bowl or a double boiler setup for making the garlic butter sauce. A microwave-safe bowl also works perfectly.

I’m using about 4cm of butter, which is roughly two-thirds of my index finger’s length. It’s best to use butter that’s softened slightly at room temperature.

Gently melt the butter in the microwave for about 30 seconds. Be careful not to overheat it, as this can diminish its flavor.

Add 4 tablespoons of sugar to the melted butter to create that delightful sweetness. This is key for a taste that kids will especially love!

For a richer, more savory, and moist crumb, add a generous 2 tablespoons of mayonnaise. This ingredient makes the bread wonderfully tender and enhances the overall flavor profile.

I chose Samlip morning rolls because they are a bit firmer and more economical than very soft bakery buns, which can sometimes have too many holes and let the sauce drip out!

Slice the morning rolls in half or make a shallow cut across the top. Now, generously spread the prepared garlic butter sauce all over the cut surfaces. Don’t be shy with the sauce – it’s what makes them so delicious! haha

Time to bake! If using an air fryer, set it to 180°C (356°F) for about 10 minutes. Keep an eye on the color; if they aren’t golden brown enough, add an extra 2-3 minutes. Cooking times can vary depending on your air fryer model, so checking periodically is important. (For reference, at my mother’s house, 170°C for 8 minutes worked perfectly!)
