  • 3 pinches of salt

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, peel the skin off the 3 potatoes and the half onion. Wash them thoroughly under running water and prepare them.

Step 2

Julienne the prepared potatoes and onion thinly. Using a mandoline slicer will make this process much faster and create uniform strips, which is very convenient. Be mindful not to cut them too thick, as this will increase cooking time.

Step 3

In a bowl with the julienned potatoes and onion, add 2 tablespoons of pancake mix, 1 tablespoon of frying mix, and 3 pinches of salt. Mix everything well until all ingredients are evenly coated. (Tip: For one potato, about 0.5 Tbsp pancake mix and a pinch of salt is standard. However, if you want to flip the pancake more easily, consider adding a bit more pancake mix. For extra crispiness, using frying mix together is highly recommended.)

Step 4

Heat a pan over medium heat. Pour in a generous amount of cooking oil, ensuring it coats the entire surface of the pan. Ample oil is key to preventing the potato shreds from sticking and achieving a crispy texture.

Step 5

Carefully spread the prepared potato mixture thinly onto the heated pan. Cook until golden brown on both sides, flipping as needed. Cooking over medium heat, rather than high heat, ensures the pancake cooks evenly all the way through.

Step 6

Instead of adding a large amount of batter at once, it’s much easier to flip and create prettier shapes by dividing the batter into smaller portions. 🙂
