Crispy Tornado Sausages: Perfect Beer Snack & Kid’s Treat!
Easy Homemade Tornado Sausages – A Delicious Beer Snack and Fun Kid’s Treat
Inspired by the delightful tornado potatoes I saw, I decided to create these fantastic ‘Tornado Sausages’ right at home! With a crispy exterior and a juicy interior, they are perfect as a beer snack or a special treat for kids!
Key Ingredients- 1 package Vienna sausages
- Wooden skewers (about twice the length of the sausages)
- Cooking oil (generous amount)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare your Vienna sausages. Lightly blanching them in boiling water before frying can help prevent them from bursting and result in a chewier, more satisfying texture.
Step 2
After draining the blanched sausages, thread them onto the wooden skewers. The direction of threading doesn’t matter, but ensure they are securely fixed so they don’t wobble. Now, starting from the bottom of the sausage, carefully make diagonal cuts with a knife.
Step 3
Hold the knife steady and slowly rotate the skewer, making cuts at even intervals. Be mindful not to cut too deep into the sausage, aiming for a beautiful spiral shape. Cutting at intervals of about 1-1.5 cm will help create a uniform pattern.
Step 4
If you make the cuts too thin, the spiral shape may easily unravel or become distorted during frying. Cutting at an appropriate depth is key to maintaining the attractive tornado shape.
Step 5
Pour a generous amount of cooking oil into a frying pan. Enough to have the sausages about halfway submerged will suffice. Once the oil is sufficiently hot, carefully place the prepared tornado sausages into the pan to fry.
Step 6
It’s important to fry the sausages until they are golden brown and slightly darkened. This is what ensures they become wonderfully crispy and delicious. Once fried, place them on paper towels to drain excess oil.
