Main Ingredients
  • 8 store-bought vegetable fritters (or more, to your preference)
  • Vegetable oil (for frying, if needed)

Sweet & Spicy Gangjeong Sauce Ingredients
  • 3 Tbsp Gochujang (Korean chili paste)
  • 4 Tbsp Ketchup
  • 2 Tbsp Corn syrup (or rice syrup/oligosaccharide)
  • 1 Tbsp Minced garlic
  • 1 Tbsp Finely minced onion
  • 1/2 cup Water (approx. 100ml)
  • A pinch of Black pepper

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Preheat your air fryer and line it with parchment paper. Arrange the vegetable fritters on the parchment paper, ensuring they have a little space between them so they don’t stick together.

Step 2

Air fry the fritters at 180°C (350°F) for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes, carefully flip the fritters over and air fry for another 10 minutes, until they are golden brown and crispy on both sides.

Step 3

While the fritters are cooking, prepare the sauce. In a separate pan or small pot, combine all the sauce ingredients: gochujang, ketchup, corn syrup, minced garlic, minced onion, water, and black pepper. Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat, then reduce the heat to low and let it cook for 1-2 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it thickens into a glossy glaze. Cooking the onion until translucent will add a subtle sweetness.

Step 4

Once the fritters are crispy, remove them from the air fryer and gently place them into the prepared gangjeong sauce. Toss them carefully to coat each fritter evenly with the sauce. Once coated, remove from heat, plate, and enjoy your delicious homemade Vegetable Fritter Gangjeong!
