Crunchy and Sweet-Sour Pickled Radish Salad
Homemade Pickled Radish for a Crispy Side Dish
Introducing a pickled radish salad recipe that’s wonderfully crisp and bursting with a sweet and sour flavor! This simple yet delicious side dish, made with homemade pickled radishes, is incredibly addictive. Making pickled radishes at home is easier than you think! Wouldn’t you love to make delicious, naturally colored pickled radishes for your children that aren’t too sweet? Making pickled radishes is even simpler than making kimchi. You can buy pickled radishes, soak them in sugar and vinegar, use them for kimbap, or make them into a salad. Why go through two separate processes? Make them deliciously sweet and sour in one go!
Main Ingredients
- 250g pickled radish (homemade or store-bought)
- 1/2 green onion
Seasoning Ingredients
- 1 Tbsp gochugaru (Korean chili flakes)
- 1 Tbsp toasted sesame seeds
- 1/4 tsp garlic powder (or 1/2 tsp minced garlic)
- 1 Tbsp maesilcheong (plum extract, adjust sweetness)
- 1 Tbsp sesame oil
- 1 Tbsp gochugaru (Korean chili flakes)
- 1 Tbsp toasted sesame seeds
- 1/4 tsp garlic powder (or 1/2 tsp minced garlic)
- 1 Tbsp maesilcheong (plum extract, adjust sweetness)
- 1 Tbsp sesame oil
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Rinse the pickled radishes lightly under running water to remove excess liquid. Slice them into strips slightly thinner than your finger’s width. Slicing them not too thick allows the seasoning to penetrate well, resulting in a better texture. Finely chop the green onion.
Step 2
Place the sliced pickled radishes and chopped green onion in a large bowl. Now it’s time to add all the simple seasoning ingredients. Add the gochugaru, toasted sesame seeds, garlic powder, maesilcheong, and sesame oil. Gently mix everything together with your hands until well combined. It’s important to toss lightly so the seasoning evenly coats the radishes.
Step 3
This side dish is incredibly simple to make, but we guarantee it tastes amazing! The sweet and sour flavor of the pickled radishes will surely whet your appetite.
Step 4
Transfer the finished pickled radish salad to a serving dish. The satisfying crunch and the delightful sweet and sour taste will make a bowl of rice disappear in no time. It’s a truly appealing side dish that you’ll keep reaching for.
Step 5
This pickled radish salad is also delicious mixed into rice for a quick meal. It also works wonderfully as a filling for mini kimbap. Enjoy it in various ways!
Step 6
When you make pickled radishes at home and prepare them this way, they can be stored in the refrigerator for quite a long time. Press them down firmly and store them in an airtight container to enjoy them fresh, just like they were made.
