Cucumber & Condensed Milk Open-Faced Toast
A Refreshing Open-Faced Toast Perfect for Summer
This is a simple and satisfying open-faced toast I’ve been enjoying for brunch lately. It’s perfect as a quick meal replacement or a light brunch. The crisp, refreshing texture of cucumber makes it a delightful treat on a hot summer day. You can easily make this delightful open-faced toast using cucumbers you already have at home.
Main Ingredients- 2 slices bread
- 1 cucumber
- 2 Tbsp cream cheese
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, thinly slice the cucumber. Sprinkle a pinch of salt over the sliced cucumber and let it sit for about 10 minutes to draw out moisture. Afterward, gently squeeze out any excess water with your hands. This step helps prevent the toast from becoming soggy.
Step 2
Toast the bread slices until golden brown, either in a toaster or on a pan. Let the toasted bread cool slightly. In a small bowl, combine 2 tablespoons of cream cheese, 1 tablespoon of honey, a tiny pinch of salt, and a little black pepper. Mix well until smooth to create your cream sauce. The sweetness from the honey, along with the salt and pepper, will enhance the cream cheese’s flavor.
Step 3
Spread the prepared cream cheese sauce evenly over the toasted bread slices using a spoon or a knife. Make sure to cover all the way to the edges for a delicious bite every time.
Step 4
Arrange the drained cucumber slices attractively on top of the cream cheese-covered toast. Sprinkle with hot sauce and crushed red pepper according to your preference. Finally, drizzle about 2 tablespoons of condensed milk over everything in a zigzag pattern. This creates a wonderful open-faced toast with a delightful balance of sweet, spicy, and fresh flavors. Enjoy it chilled!
