Delicious and Chewy Quail Egg Soy Braise (Perfect Side Dish)
Easy Homemade Quail Egg Soy Braise Recipe
A perfect match for freshly steamed rice! Make this beloved quail egg soy braise easily at home. Its savory and sweet flavor will stimulate your appetite, making you finish a bowl of rice in no time.
Main Ingredients- 1kg quail eggs (Boiling them yourself is more economical and fresher!)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare the quail eggs. You can use store-bought pre-boiled quail eggs, but boiling them yourself will result in a fresher taste and save you money. When boiling quail eggs, adding a little vinegar or salt to the boiling water can help the shells peel off more easily.
Step 2
In a deep pot or pan, combine the soy sauce (180ml), water (180ml), sugar (1/2 paper cup), minced garlic (1 Tbsp), and sesame oil (1 Tbsp). Stir well until the sugar dissolves to create the braising liquid. Mixing the ingredients beforehand ensures the seasoning is evenly distributed.
Step 3
Add the boiled and peeled quail eggs to the pot with the prepared braising liquid. Start cooking over medium heat. Gently stir occasionally to prevent the eggs from breaking.
Step 4
Once the braising liquid comes to a rolling boil, reduce the heat to low, cover the pot, and simmer for another 5-10 minutes. This step allows the quail eggs to absorb the flavors, making them even more delicious. After turning off the heat, cover the pot and let it cool completely. It’s important to let it cool down before handling to prevent the eggs from crumbling when they are hot.
Step 5
Transfer the completely cooled quail egg soy braise to an airtight container and refrigerate for at least 6 hours, or preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to deepen. The longer it sits, the better the taste becomes as the seasoning permeates the eggs. Serve the finished quail egg soy braise in appropriate portions as a side dish with your rice!
