Ingredients- 1 piece of Korean radish (mu), about 5cm long
- 1 bag of Dongwon ‘Bareun’ fish cakes
- 3 cups water (approx. 600ml)
- A handful of crown daisy (ssukgat)
- 1 hard-boiled egg
- 1 shiitake mushroom
- A small amount of carrot
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Open one bag of Dongwon ‘Bareun’ fish cakes and have them ready. The fish cakes are evenly packed, making them easy to use.
Step 2
Fold the fish cakes in half and thread them onto skewers. This makes them easier to eat and adds a nice visual appeal to the soup as they cook.
Step 3
Lay the Korean radish, cut into large pieces, at the bottom of the pot. Radish is an important ingredient for adding a refreshing taste to the broth. Arrange the skewered fish cakes around the pot.
Step 4
Add the carrot, cut into your desired shape (e.g., flower shapes). If you have children, cutting them into fun shapes will make them more enthusiastic. Also, add one hard-boiled egg. Prepare the egg by boiling it in water and then peeling it.
Step 5
The Dongwon ‘Bareun’ fish cake package includes two sachets of special soup stock. Using this stock makes it easier and quicker to achieve a deep flavor. Wash the crown daisy and get it ready. If you like, you can skewer it with a red chili pepper to create a decorative ‘crown daisy flower’ (optional).
Step 6
Pour about 3 cups (approx. 600ml) of water into the pot, enough to cover the ingredients. Once the water begins to boil, add one sachet of the Dongwon ‘Bareun’ fish cake soup stock and stir well to dissolve. (You can add the remaining stock later or divide it for two separate cooking sessions.)
Step 7
Add all the prepared ingredients, such as shiitake mushrooms, carrots, crown daisy, and the hard-boiled egg, and bring to a boil. Once boiling, reduce the heat to medium-low and simmer for about 5-10 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld. This creates a visually appealing fish cake soup with a deep and refreshing broth.
Step 8
Your delicious fish cake soup, perfect for warming up on a cold day, is ready! Enjoy the hot broth and chewy fish cakes. Afterwards, you can add noodles or rice to the remaining broth for a satisfying meal. Make this fish cake soup that the whole family can enjoy right now!
