Main Ingredients

  • Fresh oysters, a generous amount
  • Soaked dried seaweed, one fistful
  • Radish, about 3-4 cm chunk
  • Green onion, a little
  • Eggs, 2
  • Cheongyang chili pepper, 1 (optional)
  • Water, 5 cups
  • Anchovies for broth, 5-6 fish (heads and guts removed)

Seasoning

  • Soy sauce for soup, 1 Tbsp
  • Fish sauce or anchovy extract, 1 Tbsp
  • Minced garlic, 2 Tbsp
  • Salt, to taste
  • Pepper, a pinch

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

If you’ve purchased fresh oysters like me, fill a bowl with enough water to cover the oysters, add about half a tablespoon of coarse sea salt, let them soak for a short while to purge any grit, then rinse them thoroughly and drain.

Soak the dried seaweed in water until it is rehydrated.

Cut the radish into bite-sized pieces.

Finely chop the green onion into bite-sized pieces and prepare them.

Pour 5 cups of water into a pot, add 5-6 anchovies with their heads and guts removed, and bring to a rolling boil.

Once the anchovy broth has steeped sufficiently, add the chopped radish, green onion, and soaked seaweed into the pot.

Add one tablespoon of soy sauce for soup.
