Cooking Instructions
Step 1
For a special day and your beloved princesses’ picnic, let’s prepare these incredibly popular bacon rolls! First, finely chop all the prepared vegetables – zucchini, onion, carrot, bell pepper, ham, and mushrooms – into very small pieces that are easy for children to eat. The smaller the vegetables, the fluffier the fried rice will be and the easier it will be to roll with bacon.
Step 2
Heat a pan with a little cooking oil, then add all the chopped vegetables and stir-fry them until delicious. Cook over medium heat until the vegetables soften slightly and become translucent. It’s best to cook over medium heat rather than high heat to prevent the vegetables from burning and ensure they cook evenly.
Step 3
Once the vegetables are somewhat cooked, add a bowl of warm, freshly cooked rice to the pan with the sautéed vegetables and mix them together. Now, add 2 tablespoons of oyster sauce for depth of flavor and 1 tablespoon of corn syrup (or cooking syrup) for sweetness. Stir-fry over low heat until all the ingredients are well combined. It’s important to break up any clumps of rice with a spatula while stirring to ensure the rice is fluffy.
Step 4
Taste the fried rice to check the seasoning. If it feels a bit bland, add just a tiny pinch of roasted salt to adjust the overall flavor. Since oyster sauce already contains salt, use only a very small amount of additional salt.
Step 5
After letting the delicious fried rice cool slightly, shape it into bite-sized portions (or your desired size) that are easy to roll with bacon. If the rice is too hot when you handle it, it will be difficult to shape. So, let it cool down a bit before proceeding.
Step 6
Lay out the bacon strips and place the prepared fried rice portions on top. Carefully and tightly roll the bacon around the rice, making sure not to tear the bacon. Roll it all the way to the end so the fried rice doesn’t unravel. The bacon fat will melt and seep into the rice as it cooks, making it even more flavorful.
Step 7
Now it’s time to cook the prepared bacon rolls. Place them in a preheated pan without oil (or with just a tiny bit), seam-side down, and cook slowly over low heat. Cooking slowly over low heat ensures the bacon doesn’t burn and the inside cooks through thoroughly.
Step 8
Gently turn the bacon rolls in the pan, cooking all sides until they are golden brown and delicious. Once evenly cooked, your delicious bacon rolls are complete! Today, I prepared these special bacon rolls to make our princesses’ picnic lunchboxes wonderful. Both the children receiving them and those who eat them will be so happy.
