Main Ingredients

  • 2 bowls of warm cooked rice
  • 100g beef (for bulgogi, thinly sliced)
  • 40g zucchini
  • 20g carrot
  • 1 Tbsp cooking oil

Bulgogi Sauce (Homemade)

  • 60g apple (peeled and cored)
  • 60g onion (roughly chopped)
  • 4 cloves garlic
  • 20g pear (peeled and cored)
  • 2 Tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 Tbsp sugar
  • 1 Tbsp cooking wine (like mirin)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, let’s make the delicious bulgogi sauce. In a blender, combine the peeled and cored apple (60g), pear (20g), roughly chopped onion (60g), garlic cloves (4), sugar (1 Tbsp), cooking wine (1 Tbsp), and soy sauce (2 Tbsp). Blend until smooth. Using homemade fresh sauce will enhance the flavor of your rice balls.

Step 1

Step 2

Finely chop the beef into bite-sized pieces suitable for children. Add about 2 tablespoons of the homemade bulgogi sauce to the chopped beef and mix well. Let it marinate for about 10 minutes to tenderize the meat and allow the flavors to meld.

Step 2

Step 3

Wash the zucchini and carrot thoroughly, remove any seeds or tough parts, and finely mince them. It’s important to dice the vegetables very small so that children will eat them easily.

Step 3

Step 4

Heat 1 tablespoon of cooking oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the marinated beef and stir-fry, breaking it apart with chopsticks or a spatula to ensure even cooking.

Step 4

Step 5

Once the beef is about 70-80% cooked and has changed color, add the finely minced carrot and zucchini. Continue to stir-fry together for about 2-3 minutes until the vegetables are tender and slightly translucent.

Step 5

Step 6

When the beef and vegetables are fully cooked, add the 2 bowls of warm cooked rice. Gently mix and stir-fry with a spatula until the rice is well combined with the other ingredients. Lightly stirring prevents the rice from becoming mushy and helps maintain a pleasant texture.

Step 6

Step 7

Once the fried rice is ready, let it cool slightly. Lightly moisten your hands with water or sesame oil, then shape the mixture into small, round rice balls. These are easy for children to hold and eat, and make a great lunchbox addition. You can also mix in some chopped seaweed flakes for extra flavor if desired.
