Main Ingredients

  • 2 packs Jjajangmyeon noodles
  • 2 medium potatoes
  • 1/4 carrot
  • 1/2 medium onion
  • 1/4 cucumber (for garnish)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, wash the potatoes and carrot thoroughly and peel them. Dice them into small, bite-sized pieces, about 0.5 cm cubes, suitable for children. Place the diced potatoes and carrot in a pot, add enough water to cover them, and bring to a boil over high heat. Cook for about 10-15 minutes, or until the vegetables are tender.

Step 1

Step 2

In another pot, bring plenty of water to a rolling boil for cooking the two packs of jjajangmyeon noodles. Once boiling, add the noodles and gently loosen them with chopsticks to prevent sticking. Boil for about 3 minutes until the noodles are soft and cooked through.

Step 2

Step 3

When the noodles are almost done cooking, wash and peel the onion, then mince it very finely. Add the minced onion to the boiling noodle pot, reduce the heat to medium to prevent sticking, and simmer for another minute to allow the onion’s sweetness to infuse. If the water has reduced too much, add a little cold water.

Step 3

Step 4

Now, carefully scoop out the cooked potatoes and carrots from the first pot and add them to the boiling noodle pot. Since they are already cooked, gently mix them in to avoid mashing the vegetables.

Step 4

Step 5

Finally, add both the jjajang powder seasoning and the oil-based seasoning packet that came with the noodles. Stir well to combine the noodles and vegetables with the jjajang sauce. Continue to simmer for another minute until everything is evenly coated with the sauce. Your delicious jjajangmyeon is ready!

Step 5

Step 6

Wash the cucumber under running water and julienne it thinly for garnish. Arrange the julienned cucumber on top of the finished jjajangmyeon for a beautiful presentation and a refreshing crunch. This addition makes the dish even more delightful and appealing to children!
