Delicious Potato Spoon Pizza (No Crust!)
Easy Pizza Making / Special Spoon Pizza Recipe: Homemade Pizza Using Potatoes
There’s a habit many of us have when eating pizza: leaving the crust uneaten. While we might devour it when ravenously hungry, it’s often left behind. We’ve tried dipping it in garlic sauce, but sometimes, you just don’t want to eat it. So, we decided on a solution: a pizza you can eat with a spoon! This is how to make a ‘spoon pizza’ without any dough. We’ll use mashed potatoes to replace the dough, creating a wonderfully soft and creamy pizza experience.
Ingredients- 100g Mozzarella cheese
- 1/4 Onion
- 2-3 Shrimp (peeled)
- 1 Medium potato
- 1-2 slices Bread (e.g., white bread or sweet rolls)
- 1 Mushroom (e.g., button or cremini)
- 1/3 Bell pepper (various colors add appeal)
- 100g Ham (various types can be used)
- 3-4 Tbsp Tomato sauce or chicken curry sauce
- Pinch of Parsley flakes
- 1 Tbsp Butter
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare all the ingredients for the recipe. Measuring everything out beforehand will make the cooking process much smoother.
Step 2
Chop the onion, bell pepper, ham, mushrooms, and shrimp into bite-sized pieces, as these will be part of the pizza’s topping and flavor base. If using shrimp, make sure they are peeled and deveined.
Step 3
Heat a pan over medium-low heat with a little cooking oil. Add the chopped bell pepper, onion, and ham. Sauté them until they become fragrant and slightly softened, about 2-3 minutes.
Step 4
Add the tomato sauce or, if you prefer, chicken curry sauce to the sautéed vegetables. Stir and cook for another 1-2 minutes until the sauce is well combined with the vegetables. Feel free to use your favorite sauce!
Step 5
Now, let’s make the ‘dough’ base. Mash the cooked potato until smooth. Then, mix it with milk in a 1:1 ratio to create a soft, creamy potato mixture. Steaming or boiling the potato with its skin on can result in a creamier mash.
Step 6
In a microwave-safe dish (like a small oven-safe bowl), place 1 tablespoon of butter. Microwave for 1-2 minutes until the butter is completely melted. This melted butter will add a lovely richness to the pizza.
Step 7
Spread the mashed potato mixture evenly at the bottom of the dish with the melted butter. Next, tear or cut the bread slices into small pieces and layer them on top of the potato base, ensuring the potato is covered. The bread will bake into a delightful texture alongside the potato.
Step 8
Evenly spread the sautéed vegetable and sauce mixture over the potato and bread base. Be mindful not to use too much sauce, as it could make the pizza too wet.
Step 9
Arrange the sautéed mushrooms and prepared shrimp attractively on top of the sauce layer. You can add other seafood or meat toppings if you like!
Step 10
Generously sprinkle mozzarella cheese all over the toppings. The melted cheese will bind everything together and add a delicious gooey texture. Finish with a sprinkle of parsley flakes for a touch of color and herbaceous aroma.
Step 11
Cover the dish with a lid or microwave-safe plastic wrap and microwave for about 10 minutes. Cook until the cheese is fully melted and the pizza is heated through. Your delicious spoon pizza is ready! (Cooking time may vary depending on your microwave’s wattage.)
Step 12
Just as different toppings define a pizza, the ingredients you choose for this spoon pizza can be anything you desire! Feel free to add pineapple, bulgogi, crab meat, or any of your favorite ingredients to create your unique pizza.
Step 13
Similarly, the potato and bread base can be experimented with. You could try mashed sweet potato or cauliflower mash as alternatives. Get creative and enjoy exploring different flavor combinations!
