Main Ingredients
  • Dried shredded squid (prepare to your liking, approximately 5000 KRW worth)

Seasoning
  • About 1/4 tsp minced garlic
  • 1 Tbsp mirin (rice wine)
  • 1 Tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 Tbsp corn syrup
  • A pinch of sesame seeds

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, heat a pan over low heat and add a little oil. Stir-fry about 1/4 teaspoon of the minced garlic until fragrant. Once the garlic aroma releases, add the dried shredded squid and stir-fry them together gently over low heat. Be careful not to burn the squid.

Step 2

Now, add all the seasoning ingredients: 1 Tbsp soy sauce, 1 Tbsp mirin, and 2 Tbsp corn syrup. Quickly toss and mix everything over very low heat. It’s crucial to maintain low heat to prevent the sauce from burning. Adjust the seasoning to your preference; add more corn syrup for sweetness or a bit more soy sauce for saltiness.

Step 3

Finally, generously sprinkle in the sesame seeds and add another tablespoon of corn syrup. Continue stir-frying over low heat until all the moisture from the soy sauce and mirin has evaporated. The dried squid will be coated in a glossy, chewy sauce when it’s done. Enjoy this delicious stir-fried dried shredded squid with a warm bowl of rice!
