Main Ingredients
  • 2 cans of tuna (use all the oil according to your preference)
  • 1 medium potato
  • 60g onion (about 1/4 of a medium onion)
  • 50g carrot (about 1/5 of a medium carrot)
  • 20g peas (if using frozen peas, thaw them first)

Seasoning Ingredients
  • 2 Tbsp ketchup
  • 1 Tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1/2 Tbsp soy sauce
  • A pinch of sesame seeds

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, wash and prepare the vegetables for the dish. Feel free to add or substitute with any vegetables you like that you have on hand. The more diverse the vegetables, the prettier the color and richer the nutrition.

Step 2

Dice the potatoes, carrots, and onions into small cubes, about 0.5cm to 0.7cm in size. If they are too large, they will take longer to cook, so dicing them into similar sizes is recommended. (If using frozen peas, thaw them beforehand, or you can use them directly.)

Step 3

Heat 1 Tbsp of cooking oil in a pan. Add the diced potatoes and carrots first and begin to stir-fry. These two ingredients take relatively longer to cook, so it’s best to stir-fry them first.

Step 4

Continue to stir-fry until the potatoes are translucent and completely cooked through. Since they are diced small, this shouldn’t take too long. Test with a chopstick; if it pierces easily, they are well-cooked.

Step 5

Once the potatoes are cooked, add the prepared peas and diced onions to the pan. From this point on, all the ingredients will cook quickly.

Step 6

Stir-fry just until the onions become translucent. This will bring out the sweetness of the onions without them becoming too mushy. It’s good to maintain some crispness in the vegetables.

Step 7

Open the cans of tuna and prepare them. Make sure to add all the oil from the tuna cans into the pan as well. This oil will add flavor to the dish. If the tuna pieces are large, break them up slightly as you add them.

Step 8

Now, add all the seasoning ingredients (2 Tbsp ketchup, 1 Tbsp oyster sauce, 1/2 Tbsp soy sauce) to the pan. This will help the tuna and vegetables blend well with the seasonings.

Step 9

Stir-fry everything together until the ingredients and seasonings are evenly mixed. Continue stir-frying until the sauce coats the ingredients and slightly thickens. The delicious stir-fried tuna with vegetables will be ready in no time. Cook over low heat until subtly reduced.

Step 10

Finally, sprinkle some sesame seeds on top for an added nutty aroma. Your delicious stir-fried tuna with vegetables is complete! Serve it over warm rice and enjoy.
