Delicious Stir-Fried Udon Noodles Recipe
Tired of the same old rice every day? How about trying some savory stir-fried udon noodles?
Rice is great, but sometimes you crave something different, right? When that happens, try this!
Main Ingredients- 1 pack (1 serving) fresh udon noodles
- 2 handfuls of fresh cabbage (about 1/4 head)
- 1/2 sweet onion
- 1 stalk of green onion
- 3 shiitake mushrooms
- 3 strips of bacon
- 1 handful of bean sprouts
- A pinch of katsuobushi flakes for extra flavor
Sauce Ingredients- 1 Tbsp oyster sauce
- 2 Tbsp soy sauce
- 2 Tbsp cooking wine (like mirin or sake)
- A pinch of black pepper (to taste)
- 1 Tbsp oyster sauce
- 2 Tbsp soy sauce
- 2 Tbsp cooking wine (like mirin or sake)
- A pinch of black pepper (to taste)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, let’s prepare the vegetables. Thinly slice the cabbage and onion. Slice the green onion diagonally, and thinly slice the shiitake mushrooms after removing the stems. Cut the bacon into bite-sized pieces.
Step 2
Now, let’s make the delicious stir-fry sauce. In a small bowl, combine 1 Tbsp oyster sauce, 2 Tbsp soy sauce, 2 Tbsp cooking wine, and a pinch of black pepper. Mix them well. This sauce will add a deep flavor to your udon and vegetables.
Step 3
Heat a little oil in a pan over medium-high heat. Add the prepared vegetables (cabbage, onion, green onion, shiitake mushrooms) and bacon, excluding the bean sprouts. Stir-fry quickly until the vegetables are slightly softened and the bacon is golden brown.
Step 4
Once the vegetables and bacon are partially cooked, add the udon noodles to the pan. Gently separate the noodles as you add them to prevent sticking.
Step 5
Pour the prepared stir-fry sauce evenly over the noodles and ingredients. Using a spatula or chopsticks, quickly toss and stir everything together until the sauce coats the noodles, vegetables, and bacon. Stir-frying over high heat is key to preventing the noodles from becoming mushy.
Step 6
Finally, add the bean sprouts for a nice crunch. Stir-fry for just until the bean sprouts begin to wilt. Be careful not to overcook them, as you want to maintain their crispiness.
Step 7
Transfer the appetizing stir-fried udon to a serving plate. Sprinkle some katsuobushi flakes on top for an extra savory, umami flavor, reminiscent of Japanese noodle shops. Enjoy your delicious meal!
