  • Small amount of carrot (thinly julienned)

  • 300ml water

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

This No Brand Tteokbokki pack comes with 300g of rice cakes (tteok), 100g of sauce, and 2.5g of dried vegetable mix. It’s a 2-serving portion weighing 402.5g and costs a very reasonable 2,980 won. The dried vegetable mix often includes ingredients like dried green onions, which add to the flavor.

Step 1

Step 2

For a chewier and softer texture, it’s recommended to soak the rice cakes in water for 20-30 minutes beforehand. If you have the time, this step truly enhances the experience! Cut the fish cakes into manageable, bite-sized pieces. It’s also a good idea to briefly blanch the fish cakes in hot water to remove any excess oil or additives, ensuring a cleaner taste.

Step 2

Step 3

I’ve added some thinly julienned carrots for a touch of natural sweetness. The flavor of well-cooked carrots is wonderful! I personally love a lot of green onions and cabbage, but my daughter insisted on adding only a little cabbage this time – I barely managed to sneak some in! Adding cabbage contributes a lovely crisp texture and releases its sweetness into the sauce, making the dish even more flavorful.

Step 3

Step 4

Now, pour 300ml of water into the pot and add the tteokbokki sauce and dried vegetable mix. Stir to combine. Once the water begins to boil, add the prepared rice cakes, fish cakes, carrots, and cabbage. Almost there! If you have green onions, cut them directly into the pot with scissors. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking and simmer for about 5 minutes until everything is cooked through and the sauce has thickened. From preparation to serving, you can have this delicious tteokbokki ready in as little as 10 minutes if you’re focused, making it perfect for busy days!
