Delicious Vietnamese Shrimp Pho
Effortless Vietnamese Shrimp Pho Made with an Easy Store-Bought Broth Base
Craving a comforting bowl of Vietnamese Pho but short on time? This recipe makes it incredibly simple to create a delicious and authentic-tasting shrimp pho right in your own kitchen using a convenient store-bought broth base. We’re using ‘Haimon Pho Broth Base,’ a product that offers a rich flavor at an affordable price, typically around 2,500 KRW, yielding enough for 5-6 servings per bottle. For an even deeper flavor profile, consider simmering your own broth with aromatic ingredients like dried anchovies, pollack, shrimp, shiitake mushrooms, kelp, leek roots, and onions, then incorporating the Haimon Pho Broth Base. This combination creates a truly complex and satisfying taste. While many commercial Vietnamese pho restaurants often use MSG to enhance flavor, similar to how instant ramen or Japanese udon noodles are prepared, this recipe offers a cleaner, home-cooked alternative. By using a quality store-bought base and blending it with fresh vegetables and homemade broth elements, you gain control over the ingredients and can tailor the flavors to your preference. It’s a smart way to enjoy authentic flavors without the guesswork. Let’s get started on making this refreshing Vietnamese Shrimp Pho with Haimon Pho Broth Base!

Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Begin by preparing the broth. Follow the instructions on the Haimon Pho Broth Base packaging to mix the correct ratio with water (typically around 1200cc of water for one 220g bottle). For a richer and more complex flavor, you can create your own broth base first. Simmer your chosen aromatic ingredients like dried anchovies, dried shrimp, kelp, leek roots, dried shiitake mushrooms, and dried pollack flakes in water. Once you have a flavorful broth, add the Haimon Pho Broth Base to it. If you’re short on time or prefer a simpler approach, simply mixing the broth base with water according to the package directions will still yield a delicious result.
Step 2
While the broth is simmering, prepare your toppings. Rinse the bean sprouts thoroughly under cold running water and drain well. Thinly slice the onion into fine slivers. Slice the lemon into rounds and thinly slice the green chilies. Cut the carrot, onion, and zucchini intended for the broth into larger chunks.
Step 3
Once the broth is at a rolling boil, add the chunky carrot, onion, and zucchini pieces. Continue to simmer for about 10 minutes, or until the vegetables are tender. Cooking these vegetables in the broth will naturally infuse it with sweetness and a pleasant aroma, enhancing the overall flavor.
Step 4
Now it’s time to assemble your Pho! First, gently blanch the rice noodles in the hot broth for a moment (this is called ‘to-ryeom’ in Korean cooking, a way to warm and slightly cook noodles). Briefly dip the bean sprouts in the hot broth and quickly remove them to maintain their crisp, fresh texture. If you prefer raw bean sprouts, you can add them directly to the bowl. Place the blanched noodles in your serving bowl. Ladle the hot, flavorful broth over the noodles. Arrange the cooked shrimp, the simmered vegetables, and the thinly sliced raw onion and green chilies on top as desired. Finish by squeezing fresh lemon juice over everything. Your refreshing and aromatic Vietnamese Shrimp Pho is now ready to be enjoyed!
