Easy Bread Slice Lasagna: ‘Sikppang-ijanya’
Delicious Italian Meal at Home! ‘Bread Slice Lasagna’ Recipe Using Convenience Store Ingredients
Surprise yourself! You can make a fantastic lasagna using only convenience store ingredients. We introduce the ‘Sikppang-ijanya’ recipe, which uses chewy bread slices instead of lasagna noodles for an extra moist and tender texture. It’s a special home-cooking dish that anyone can easily follow!
Essential Ingredients- 3 slices of bread (edges removed)
- 1 piece of seasoned fried chicken (cut into bite-sized pieces)
- 1/2 cup store-bought tomato sauce
- 1 cup mashed potato salad
- 100g mozzarella cheese (or 2 slices of processed cheese)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, neatly trim the four crusts off each slice of bread. Then, use a rolling pin or your hands to flatten the bread slices. This will make them perfect for using as lasagna noodles. The thinner they are, the prettier your layered lasagna will look.
Step 2
Place the flattened bread slices in a frying pan and toast them over medium-low heat until golden brown on both sides. Lightly toasting enhances the bread’s flavor and prevents the layers from becoming mushy, resulting in a more delicious texture.
Step 3
Now it’s time to assemble the lasagna! In an oven-safe or microwave-safe dish, place one slice of toasted bread. Spread a generous amount of tomato sauce over it. Next, layer with the cut seasoned fried chicken, creamy mashed potato salad, and a good amount of mozzarella cheese. Repeat this layering process 2-3 times with the bread and remaining ingredients until they are all used up. Finish by covering the top generously with cheese for a mouthwatering finish.
Step 4
Once all the layers are assembled, place the dish in the microwave and heat for about 3 minutes. It’s ready when the cheese is melted and gooey and the filling is heated through! If you have an oven, you can also bake it at 180°C (350°F) for 10-15 minutes. Enjoy your warm and gooey ‘Sikppang-ijanya’ right away!
