Easy & Healthy Misutgaru Bread by Lee Jung Hyun
Star Chef Lee Jung Hyun’s Super Simple Snack: Misutgaru Bread
I tried making the healthy Misutgaru bread from the TV show ‘Pyeonstorang’, created by Lee Jung Hyun for her young daughter. It’s a wonderfully simple and nutritious snack.
Ingredients- 1 cup Misutgaru (Korean roasted grain powder)
- 1 pack Milk (approx. 200ml)
- 2 Eggs
- 1 Tbsp Sugar
- 1 Tbsp Butter
- Olive oil (for greasing)
- Blueberries (for topping)
- Honey (for topping)
- A little nuts (for topping)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
In a large bowl, pour in 1 pack (about 200ml) of milk. Then, sift 1 cup of Misutgaru through a fine-mesh sieve into the milk. Sieving is important to ensure a smooth batter without lumps.
Step 2
In a separate small bowl, lightly beat 2 eggs. Add 1 tablespoon of butter, melted in the microwave for about 30 seconds, and 1 tablespoon of sugar. Mix well with a spoon or whisk until fully combined and the sugar is dissolved. Ensure there are no lumps.
Step 3
Pour the egg mixture from step 2 into the Misutgaru and milk batter from step 1. Gently mix until you have a smooth batter with no lumps. Be careful not to overmix; just combine until all ingredients are well incorporated.
Step 4
Lightly grease a microwave-safe bowl with olive oil. This step will help the bread release easily once it’s cooked.
Step 5
Pour the prepared batter into the greased bowl. Gently tap the bowl on the counter a few times to release any large air bubbles from the batter. This will help create a more even texture.
Step 6
Microwave on high power for about 8 minutes. Cooking times may vary depending on your microwave’s wattage. After about 7 minutes, insert a toothpick or skewer into the center; if it comes out clean, the bread is done. If not, microwave in 30-second increments until cooked through.
Step 7
Carefully invert the Misutgaru bread onto a serving plate. Garnish with blueberries, a drizzle of honey, and a sprinkle of your favorite nuts for added flavor and texture. This healthy, delicious bread is ready to be enjoyed warm or cooled!
