Easy Homemade Jjajangmyeon

Craving Jjajangmyeon? Make it easily at home!

Easy Homemade Jjajangmyeon

In today’s world, we’ve become accustomed to delivery culture – ordering food with just a few taps on an app. If even that feels like too much effort, we might opt for instant jjajangmyeon. There used to be many Chinese restaurants with delicious food, but one by one they disappeared, and so did the taste. While restaurants that make it fresh are tasty, the effort involved can be a bother… Haha! So, I’ve created a recipe that aims for a noodle texture and flavor that’s a step up from instant jjajangmyeon, closer to the real deal.

Ingredients

  • 1 packet of pre-made Jjajang sauce
  • 1 serving of frozen Chunjang noodles
  • 1/2 Onion
  • 2 Tbsp Cooking oil

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

I’ve bought pre-made Jjajang sauce and frozen Chunjang noodles. You can find them at any supermarket. While you can make the sauce from Chunjang paste, I’m using a ready-made sauce for a simple, instant noodle-like preparation.

Step 1

Step 2

Heat cooking oil in a pan and stir-fry the thinly sliced onion. Continue to sauté until the onion becomes translucent and slightly softened. This brings out the natural sweetness of the onion.

Step 2

Step 3

Add the pre-made Jjajang sauce to the pan with the sautéed onions and heat it through. Since the sauce is already cooked, you only need to warm it up and mix it well with the onions. Stir for about 1-2 minutes until everything is well combined and heated.

Step 3

Step 4

Bring a pot of water to a rolling boil. Add the frozen Chunjang noodles and cook for the time indicated on the package (usually 2-3 minutes). Be careful not to overcook the noodles. Once cooked, drain them thoroughly in a colander.

Step 4

Step 5

Place the drained noodles into your serving bowl. Pour the warm Jjajang sauce generously over the noodles, and your homemade Jjajangmyeon is ready! ^^ You can add toppings like cucumber strips or peas if you like. Enjoy your delicious meal!
