Ingredients

  • 500g Blueberries (fresh or frozen)
  • 2 cups Sugar (approx. 300g)
  • 2 Tbsp Fresh Lemon Juice

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, prepare 500g of blueberries. If using fresh blueberries, wash them thoroughly and pat them completely dry. Frozen blueberries can be used directly without thawing. Also, have 2 cups of sugar (about 300g) and 2 tablespoons of fresh lemon juice ready.

Step 1

Step 2

Combine the blueberries and sugar in a pot. Over medium heat, stir gently as the mixture starts to cook, allowing the sugar to dissolve with the juices released from the blueberries. The berries will gradually soften.

Step 2

Step 3

You don’t need to mash the blueberry skins intentionally. As you stir, they will naturally break down and help thicken the jam. Leaving some texture from the blueberry pieces will make the jam even more delicious to eat! Be careful not to mash them too finely.

Step 3

Step 4

Once the jam begins to thicken and reduce in volume, stir in the 2 tablespoons of prepared lemon juice. Lemon juice not only enhances the jam’s bright flavor and aroma but also acts as a natural preservative, helping to extend its shelf life.

Step 4

Step 5

The jam is ready when it has reduced by about half and, when you scrape the bottom of the pot with a wooden spoon, the mark remains visible for a moment. This is the key indicator that your jam is perfectly cooked. Be mindful not to overcook, as it can become too firm.

Step 5

Step 6

Your delicious homemade blueberry jam is complete! This batch should fill one glass jar, approximately 11 cm tall with a 22 cm circumference. Pour the jam into a clean jar, and once completely cooled, seal with a lid and store in the refrigerator.

Step 6

Step 7

It’s absolutely delightful spread on freshly baked toast or bread. It also pairs wonderfully with crackers, biscuits, scones, and other desserts! Enjoy your homemade blueberry jam that will surely enhance your meals. ^^
