Easy Hotcake Mix Scones (Air Fryer Friendly!)
Simple Hotcake Mix Scone Recipe Using Ingredients You Already Have
Perfect for baking beginners! With just hotcake mix and a few basic ingredients, you can easily make delicious scones that are crispy on the outside and moist on the inside using your air fryer. They make a wonderful sweet snack or brunch item!
Basic Ingredients- 150g Hotcake mix
- 50g Cake flour (or all-purpose flour)
- 20ml Canola oil (or melted butter)
- 10ml Milk or soy milk
- 1 Egg
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
In a bowl, combine the hotcake mix and cake flour. Pour in the canola oil. Using your fingertips or a fork, rub the oil into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse breadcrumbs. This step is key to achieving a crispy texture.
Step 2
In a separate small bowl, crack the egg and add 10ml of milk (or soy milk). Whisk them together until well combined.
Step 3
Pour the mixed egg and milk into the dry ingredients. Use a spatula or fork to quickly cut and mix the ingredients until they just come together to form a dough. Be careful not to overmix, as this can make the scones tough. For extra flavor and texture, you can add chocolate chips or dried fruits at this stage!
Step 4
Once the dough forms a cohesive ball, transfer it to a lightly floured surface or parchment paper. Shape it into your desired scone form. You can make them round and flat, or divide the dough into four wedges for a traditional triangle shape.
Step 5
Gently brush the tops of the shaped scones with the egg wash. Place the scones in your air fryer basket. Cook at 160°C (320°F) for 15 minutes. (Adjust time and temperature based on your air fryer’s specifications).
Step 6
After 15 minutes, carefully flip the scones over. If the tops are golden brown, continue to bake for another 5 minutes to ensure the other side is evenly cooked. You can check for doneness by inserting a toothpick; it should come out clean.
Step 7
Once baked, remove the scones from the air fryer and let them cool completely on a wire rack. While they are delicious warm, allowing them to cool fully will enhance their delightful crispiness.
