Easy “Pie Soup” Inspired by Park Na-rae’s Recipe
Impress Your Guests: Simple Homemade Pie Soup
Remember when Park Na-rae made ‘Pie Soup’ on the TV show ‘I Live Alone’? Many viewers might have thought, ‘Who makes that at home?’ Well, I’m here to tell you it’s surprisingly easy! You know how delicious it is to dip bread into soup? This dish combines both in one! Give this Pie Soup a try today for a comforting and satisfying meal.
Ingredients
- 1 sheet puff pastry dough
- 1 egg yolk
- 1 serving of your favorite soup (e.g., mushroom, cream)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, take out one sheet of frozen puff pastry dough. Let it sit at room temperature for about 10-15 minutes to thaw and become pliable. It’s much easier to work with when it’s slightly softened.
Step 2
Prepare your soup. If you’re using instant soup, follow the package instructions to cook it. (I used a creamy mushroom soup for its rich flavor!) Pour the prepared soup into an oven-safe cup or ramekin. Gently place the thawed puff pastry dough over the top of the soup. For a beautiful golden-brown finish, brush the top of the pastry with the egg yolk. (You can skip the egg wash if you prefer, but it really enhances the color and appeal!) Since the soup is already warm, it’s time to bake the pastry. Preheat your oven to 175°C (350°F). Bake for approximately 12-15 minutes, or until the pastry is puffed up and golden brown. The pastry should look beautifully baked and slightly crisp.
Step 3
Carefully remove the Pie Soup from the oven. Be cautious as the pastry will be very hot. Using oven mitts is recommended for safety. Enjoy immediately while warm to experience the delightful contrast between the crispy, flaky pastry and the smooth, savory soup!
