Super Simple Sausage Bread Rolls – Perfect for Kids’ Snacks!
Here’s a super simple sausage bread recipe I made for my son’s snack! It’s incredibly easy and perfect for a quick treat.
Sausage Bread Ingredients- 3 sausages (cut into approx. 2cm pieces)
- Pinch of dried parsley (for garnish)
- Ketchup, as needed (for garnish)
- 6 paper cups (for baking)
Batter Ingredients- 150g pancake mix
- 1 egg
- 80ml milk
- 50g shredded cheese
- Pinch of salt
- Pinch of black pepper
Corn Topping Ingredients- 70g canned corn (drained)
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1 tbsp mayonnaise
- 150g pancake mix
- 1 egg
- 80ml milk
- 50g shredded cheese
- Pinch of salt
- Pinch of black pepper
Corn Topping Ingredients- 70g canned corn (drained)
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1 tbsp mayonnaise
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare the sausages. Cut them into bite-sized pieces, about 2cm long. Making diagonal slits on the sausages will make them look appealing when cooked and enhance the flavor.
Step 2
[Prepare Corn Topping] In a bowl, combine the drained canned corn (70g) with 1 tablespoon of sugar and 1 tablespoon of mayonnaise. Mix well to create a delicious corn topping.
Step 3
[Make the Batter] In a separate bowl, add the pancake mix (150g). Crack in 1 egg and pour in 80ml of milk. For a touch of flavor, add a pinch of salt and a pinch of black pepper.
Step 4
Using a whisk or spatula, mix the ingredients until you have a smooth batter with no lumps. Finally, add the shredded cheese (50g) and mix gently one more time. The cheese will add a richer flavor to the bread.
Step 5
Fill each of the 6 prepared paper cups with the batter, about one-third full. Be careful not to overfill, as the batter will expand during cooking. Spoon about 2 teaspoons of the seasoned corn mixture onto the batter. Then, place two of the scored sausages on top of the corn.
Step 6
Once all the paper cups are filled with the batter, corn, and sausage, place them in the microwave. You can cook all 6 sausage rolls at once, making it very convenient!
Step 7
Microwave for about 4-5 minutes. You’ll soon smell a wonderful aroma as the sausage bread puffs up nicely! (Cooking time may vary depending on your microwave’s power.) To check if the bread is cooked through, insert a skewer or toothpick into the center. If it comes out clean, it’s done. If batter sticks to it, microwave for additional 30-second to 1-minute intervals until cooked.
Step 8
Once the sausage bread is cooked, drizzle ketchup in a zigzag pattern over the top. Sprinkle a little dried parsley for a final decorative touch.
Step 9
Voila! In just about 15 minutes, a nutritious and delightful snack for your kids is ready. Enjoy these easy sausage bread rolls when you need a quick bite or for a fun treat!
