El Diablo: A Captivating Tequila Cocktail Recipe
How to Make El Diablo Cocktail | Sweet & Tangy Tequila Cocktail Guide
Don’t let its formidable name, ‘El Diablo’ (The Devil), fool you! This cocktail is more like a fairy’s enchantment than a devil’s trick. It’s a delightful blend of refreshing tartness, pleasant sweetness, and an alluring aroma, creating a truly magical drink that’s surprisingly easy to make at home.
Ingredients
- 60ml Tequila
- 20ml Crème de Cassis (Blackcurrant Liqueur)
- 1 Fresh Lime
- Ginger Beer or Ginger Ale, to top
- Ice cubes (for shaking and serving)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Take your fresh lime. Set aside 1-2 wedges for garnish. Cut the remaining lime into approximately 1.5cm (about 0.5 inch) cubes. Place these lime cubes into your cocktail shaker. This will ensure a vibrant, fresh citrus base for your cocktail.
Step 2
Using a muddler or the back of a wooden spoon, gently press down on the lime cubes to release their juice and oils. Aim to extract the fresh lime essence without pulverizing the peel too much, as this can release bitter notes. A few presses should be enough to release the fragrant aroma.
Step 3
Add 60ml of tequila and 20ml of Crème de Cassis to the shaker with the muddled lime. Fill the shaker about two-thirds full with ice cubes. Secure the lid tightly and shake vigorously for about 15-20 seconds. This thorough shaking chills the mixture perfectly and creates a beautiful, light froth.
Step 4
Prepare a 450ml (approximately 15 oz) highball or Collins glass. Fill the glass generously with fresh ice cubes. Strain the chilled cocktail mixture from the shaker into the prepared glass. Filling the glass with ice ensures your drink stays cold from the first sip to the last.
Step 5
Top the glass with chilled ginger beer or ginger ale. Pour slowly to preserve the carbonation and create a lovely effervescence. Garnish your masterpiece with the reserved lime wedge. Your enchanting El Diablo cocktail, a delightful balance of sweet, tart, and aromatic flavors, is now ready to be enjoyed!
