Main Ingredients
  • 1 can Canned Salmon, drained
  • 4 slices Sliced Ham
  • 4 slices Bread
  • 4 slices Sliced Cheese
  • 1 Egg
  • Pinch of Parsley Flakes (optional)
  • 50g Mozzarella Cheese

Sauce & Seasoning
  • 1 Tbsp Mayonnaise
  • 1 tsp Honey Mustard
  • Pinch of Black Pepper (optional)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, prepare the ham. Briefly blanch the sliced ham in hot water to remove excess fat, then pat dry and slice it as thinly as possible. For the canned salmon, drain it well using a sieve. Gently press the salmon with a spoon to remove any remaining oil. This step ensures a clean, non-fishy flavor.

Step 2

In a bowl, combine the drained canned salmon with 1 tablespoon of mayonnaise and 1 teaspoon of honey mustard. Mix thoroughly. You can add a pinch of black pepper for extra flavor if you like. Next, spread a thin layer of mayonnaise on one side of each slice of bread. This will help toast the bread beautifully.

Step 3

Place the thinly sliced ham evenly over the mayonnaise-spread side of the bread. Then, generously layer the prepared canned salmon on top of the ham. The rich flavor of the salmon will complement the other ingredients wonderfully.

Step 4

Add one slice of cheese on top of the salmon and ham layer for each sandwich. Cover with another slice of bread to complete the sandwich. In a separate bowl, whisk the egg. Dip each assembled sandwich into the whisked egg, ensuring the entire exterior is coated. This egg wash will give it a lovely golden crust.

Step 5

Heat a pan over medium-low heat and carefully place the egg-coated sandwiches in it. Grill until both sides are golden brown and slightly crisp. Once toasted, transfer the sandwiches to an oven-safe baking sheet. Top generously with mozzarella cheese. Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for about 10-15 minutes, or until the mozzarella cheese is fully melted and bubbly with a beautiful golden hue. Serve your delicious Salmon Croque Monsieur immediately while it’s warm!
