Main Ingredients- 14 Tteokbokki rice cakes
- 14 Pickled radish wrappers (Ssammu)
- 1/2 Cucumber
- 1/2 Yellow bell pepper
- 1/2 Orange bell pepper
- 1/2 bunch Daikon sprouts (Musun)
Rice Cake Seasoning- 1 Tbsp Sesame oil
- 1/2 Tbsp Soy sauce
- Pinch of salt
- 1 Tbsp Sesame oil
- 1/2 Tbsp Soy sauce
- Pinch of salt
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare your Tteokbokki rice cakes. Bring a pot of water to a boil and add 14 Tteokbokki rice cakes. Blanch them for about 30 seconds; be careful not to overcook, as they might become too soft and fall apart. Immediately drain and rinse the rice cakes under cold water to cool them down. Then, place them in a colander to drain any excess water thoroughly.
Step 2
Now, let’s season the drained rice cakes. In a bowl, combine 1 tablespoon of sesame oil, 1/2 tablespoon of soy sauce, and a pinch of salt. Gently toss the rice cakes to coat them evenly with the seasoning. This step adds a subtle sheen and a savory depth of flavor, making the rice cakes much more delicious.
Step 3
It’s time to assemble the beautiful rolls! Lay one pickled radish wrapper (ssammu) flat. Place a portion of the seasoned rice cakes and your prepared fresh vegetables (cucumber, bell peppers, daikon sprouts) in the center. It’s helpful if you cut the vegetables to a similar length as the rice cakes. Arrange them neatly, then carefully roll the wrapper tightly from one end to the other. Arrange the finished Tteok Musam Rolls on a plate. Serving Suggestion: For an extra burst of flavor, consider serving these rolls with a dipping sauce of your choice, such as commercial mustard sauce, chili sauce, or a simple soy-based dipping sauce!
