Salad Ingredients
  • 100g baby greens (choose fresh and tender ones)
  • 10 frozen shrimp (thawed and patted dry)
  • 5 cloves garlic (thinly sliced)
  • 1/2 lemon (cut into bite-sized pieces)
  • 1/2 onion (thinly sliced)
  • 50g smoked salmon (prepared for rolling into decorative shapes)

Oriental Dressing
  • 5 Tbsp soy sauce (for a sweet and savory base)
  • 3 Tbsp olive oil (adds richness)
  • 3 Tbsp vinegar (for brightness)
  • 2 Tbsp sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 1.5 Tbsp minced garlic (enhances flavor)
  • A pinch of toasted sesame seeds (for nutty aroma)
  • A pinch of black pepper (optional)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, soak the thinly sliced onion in cold water for about 10 minutes to remove any harshness and enhance its crispiness. Thaw the frozen shrimp completely in lukewarm water, then thoroughly pat them dry with paper towels.

Step 2

Slice the garlic cloves thinly. Rinse the baby greens under cool running water. After washing, drain them well in a colander so that the dressing adheres nicely and doesn’t become watery.

Step 3

Cut the lemon into manageable, bite-sized pieces. This will add a refreshing zest to your salad.

Step 4

Now, let’s prepare the delicious Oriental dressing! In a bowl, combine the soy sauce, olive oil, vinegar, sugar, minced garlic, toasted sesame seeds, and black pepper. Whisk together with a fork or whisk until all ingredients are well blended. Ensure the sugar is completely dissolved for a smooth dressing.

Step 5

Heat a pan over medium heat with a little olive oil. Add the sliced garlic and the dried shrimp, and sauté until golden brown and fragrant. Be careful not to burn the garlic. Cook the shrimp until they turn pink and are fully cooked.

Step 6

Select a wide, shallow serving plate. Arrange the drained baby greens in a circular pattern, creating a beautiful, voluminous base for your salad. Aim for an abundant, attractive presentation.

Step 7

It’s time to artfully arrange the prepared ingredients. Place the lemon pieces, sliced onion, and the sautéed shrimp and garlic evenly over the bed of greens. Consider the color contrast to make the salad visually appealing.

Step 8

Finally, delicately roll thin slices of smoked salmon into rose-like shapes for a decorative flourish. This is easier to do when the salmon is slightly chilled. Drizzle the prepared Oriental dressing over the assembled salad. You’ve now created a stunning and delicious Christmas Salmon Salad! Enjoy it with your favorite wine and make wonderful memories.
