Sandwich Ingredients
- 3 Morning Buns
- 1 Fresh Fig
- 1 Hard-boiled Egg
- A little Cucumber (about 1/4, adjust to taste)
- A little Bell Pepper (about 1/4, using different colors adds visual appeal)
- 1 Tbsp Plain Yogurt (for a creamy texture)
Seasoning
- 1 Pinch Salt (enhances the flavors)
- 1 Tbsp Honey (amplifies the fig’s sweetness)
- 1 Pinch Salt (enhances the flavors)
- 1 Tbsp Honey (amplifies the fig’s sweetness)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare all the ingredients for the sandwich. Wash the fresh fig, cucumber, and bell pepper thoroughly and pat them dry. Peel the hard-boiled egg.
Step 2
Finely chop the cucumber and bell pepper. Mash the hard-boiled egg with a fork or finely chop it with a knife. Remove the stem from the fig and slice it into thin strips. You can also chop it finely if you prefer.
Step 3
In a medium bowl, combine the chopped cucumber, bell pepper, mashed egg, and sliced fig. Add 1 tablespoon of plain yogurt, a pinch of salt, and 1 tablespoon of honey. Gently mix everything together until well combined to create the filling. Taste and adjust the honey or salt if needed, according to your preference.
Step 4
Using a knife, carefully cut off the top of each morning bun, leaving about 1 cm attached so it forms a lid. Be careful not to cut all the way through, so the top can be placed back on.
Step 5
Gently press the inside of the morning bun with a fork or spoon to create a hollowed-out space, like a small bowl. Be careful not to make the bread walls too thin, and scoop out enough to hold a generous amount of filling.
Step 6
Generously spoon the prepared fig and egg filling into the hollowed-out morning buns. Place the cut-off tops back on to complete your delightful Fig Morning Bun Sandwiches! Enjoy them immediately for the best texture and flavor.
