Flavorful Steak Rice Pot
[Homemade Recipe] Making Steak Rice Pot with Staub Cocotte 16cm
This recipe is dedicated to my younger sibling, a true meat lover. I’ve created a special steak rice pot, a dish I know they’ll adore. It beautifully combines tender steak with perfectly cooked rice, making for a truly satisfying meal. This version is made with the Staub Cocotte 16cm for an elevated experience.
Main Ingredients
- 1 Tbsp Butter (e.g., Isigny butter)
- 3-4 cloves Garlic, thinly sliced
- 1 cup Rice, soaked for over 30 minutes
- Beef for steak (marinated with olive oil and salt)
- 1 Egg Yolk
- 1 piece Dried Kelp (Kombu)
- 1 cup Broth or Water (equal to rice quantity)
- Scallions, chopped (for garnish)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, rinse the rice thoroughly and soak it in water for at least 30 minutes. Drain the soaked rice well. Thinly slice the garlic cloves.
Step 2
Melt your favorite butter (like Isigny butter) in the pot over medium-low heat. Add the sliced garlic and sauté until fragrant and lightly golden, being careful not to burn it.
Step 3
Add the soaked and drained rice to the pot with the garlic butter. Stir-fry the rice, coating each grain with the buttery mixture, until the grains become slightly translucent. This step helps achieve fluffy rice.
Step 4
Pour in the broth or water, using the same amount as the rice. Add the piece of dried kelp for an extra layer of umami. Bring to a boil uncovered over medium-high heat and cook for about 15 minutes, allowing some of the liquid to evaporate. You can check the rice periodically.
Step 5
You’ll notice the rice grains starting to swell and cook. At this stage, most of the liquid should have been absorbed. Take a moment to check the rice’s consistency.
Step 6
Now, cover the pot with a lid and reduce the heat to low (medium-low). Let it steam for about 20 minutes. Cooking times for pot rice can vary depending on the pot and heat, so feel free to adjust based on your experience and other recipes. (This cooking time is a balanced estimate based on various pot rice recipes.)
Step 7
While the rice is steaming, cook the marinated steak to your desired doneness in a separate pan. Sear it on both sides until beautifully browned.
Step 8
Once the rice has finished steaming, arrange the cooked steak slices attractively on top of the rice. Cover the pot again and let it rest for another 5 minutes, allowing the steak juices to meld with the rice.
Step 9
Voila! Your delicious Steak Rice Pot is ready. Garnish generously with chopped scallions, place a fresh egg yolk in the center, and add a knob of butter on the side for extra richness.
Step 10
Doesn’t this homemade Steak Rice Pot look absolutely stunning? Enjoy the wonderful combination of warm rice and savory steak!
