  • 1 tsp Salt

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

This recipe introduces an impressive main dish using fresh, domestically sourced halibut that you can easily enjoy at home.

Step 1

Step 2

Pat the domestic halibut fillet dry with a paper towel, then cut it into steak-sized portions, about 2-3 cm thick, for easy serving.

Step 2

Step 3

Season both sides of the halibut pieces evenly with salt and pepper. This step helps to remove any fishy odor and enhances the overall flavor.

Step 3

Step 4

Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a preheated pan over medium-low heat. Place the seasoned halibut pieces in the pan and sear for about 2-3 minutes per side, until they are golden brown and beautifully colored. Be careful not to cook over high heat, as this can burn the outside before the inside is cooked.

Step 4

Step 5

In a small saucepan, melt 10g of butter over low heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.

Step 5

Step 6

Add 40g of milk and 100g of ricotta cheese to the sautéed garlic, along with 1 teaspoon of salt. Whisk continuously with a whisk or spatula until smooth and creamy. Gently simmer over low heat, stirring, until the sauce slightly thickens. Avoid overcooking the sauce.

Step 6

Step 7

Thinly slice the fresh tomato and the whole mozzarella ball, about 0.5 cm thick. These will be the toppings for your steak.

Step 7

Step 8

Spread 2 tablespoons of tomato sauce evenly over the seared halibut steaks. This sauce will further enhance the flavor of the fish.

Step 8

Step 9

Arrange the sliced tomatoes and mozzarella cheese attractively over the tomato sauce, either overlapping or placed side-by-side. Place in a preheated oven at 200°C (392°F) for about 5 minutes. The goal is to lightly melt the mozzarella without it becoming too runny.

Step 9

Step 10

On a warm serving plate, artfully spoon the prepared garlic ricotta cheese sauce. Carefully place the baked halibut carpaccio steak on top of the sauce. Drizzle with 1 tablespoon of olive oil and 1 tablespoon of balsamic glaze. Garnish with parsley flakes and fresh basil leaves to complete this exquisite Halibut Carpaccio Steak!
