Fluffy & Cheesy Egg Bread
How to Make Moist Cheese Egg Bread with a Halogen Oven
Hello, it’s Anri’s Sister. I was hungry late at night and craved the street-style egg bread I used to buy. Since there are no places selling it around here, I decided to make it myself. I had pancake mix and plenty of eggs, bought in bulk for 8,800 won for three packages, so it was perfect! This recipe uses a halogen oven to create a wonderfully moist and delicious cheese egg bread that’s perfect for a snack or a light meal.
Ingredients- 5 paper cups (for baking molds)
- 1 Tbsp cooking oil (for greasing the cups)
- 5 eggs
- Hot cake (pancake) mix (for batter)
- 5 slices cheddar cheese (or your preferred cheese)
- Ketchup, to taste (optional)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, let’s prepare the batter for the egg bread. Combine 2.5 cups of hot cake mix with 3 cups of water. Whisk them together until you have a smooth batter with no lumps. (Using measuring cups or the paper cups themselves for measurement is convenient.)
Step 2
Grease the inside of each paper cup thoroughly with cooking oil. You can use a pastry brush or dip a paper towel in the oil and coat the inside. This step is crucial to ensure the egg bread slides out easily after baking. Properly greasing the cups prevents sticking!
Step 3
Pour the prepared hot cake batter into the greased paper cups, filling them about one-third of the way full. Avoid overfilling, as the batter will rise during baking. Filling to about one-third ensures it doesn’t overflow.
Step 4
Now, crack an egg into each cup, on top of the batter. You can gently break the yolk or leave it intact. Make sure the egg is nestled nicely within the batter.
Step 5
Place a slice of cheddar cheese on top of each egg. For extra cheesiness, you can also add mozzarella cheese. Don’t be shy with the cheese – it adds wonderful flavor!
Step 6
Optionally, drizzle a little ketchup over the cheese. Ketchup adds a touch of tanginess, but it’s perfectly fine to omit it if you prefer. (Tip: Feel free to add finely chopped onions, diced ham, or a dollop of mayonnaise at this stage for even more flavor variations!)
Step 7
Next, pour more hot cake batter over the cheese and egg, filling the cup to about two-thirds full. For an extra cheesy top, add another piece of cheese on top. This will make your egg bread look even more appealing.
Step 8
Place the filled paper cups into a preheated halogen oven set at 180°C (350°F). Baking time may vary depending on your oven’s performance and the number of egg breads you are baking.
Step 9
To check if the egg bread is fully cooked, insert a skewer or toothpick deep into the center. If it comes out clean with no batter attached, it’s perfectly baked. If there’s still batter, bake for a few more minutes. (I baked mine for about 30 minutes due to the quantity.)
Step 10
Carefully remove the beautifully baked egg bread from the oven and gently slide it out of the paper cup. If you greased the cups well, they should pop out easily, just like this! Your delicious cheese egg bread is ready to enjoy!
