Ingredients- 4 Morning Buns
- 2 Potatoes (medium-sized)
- 15g Carrot (about 1/5 of a carrot)
- 2 Pickles (small)
- 2 tsp Sugar
- 1/2 tsp Salt
- 2 tbsp Mayonnaise
- 1/2 tbsp Mustard
- 3 tbsp Milk
- 4 slices Cheddar Cheese
- 4 slices Sliced Ham
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, peel the potatoes and cut them into rough chunks, suitable for boiling. Ensuring uniform size helps them cook evenly.
Step 2
Place the prepared potato chunks in a microwave-safe bowl. Add about 10ml of water, cover with a lid or plastic wrap, and microwave for approximately 7 minutes until tender. (Adjust cooking time based on potato size and microwave power.)
Step 3
To check if the potatoes are cooked, insert a fork or skewer. If it slides in easily with little resistance, the potatoes are ready.
Step 4
Transfer the hot, cooked potatoes to a bowl. Mash them thoroughly with a potato masher or a fork until smooth and lump-free. Mashing while they are still warm will yield a creamier texture.
Step 5
While the potatoes are cooking, finely mince the carrot and pickles. Finely chopping these ingredients will help them integrate better into the sandwich filling.
Step 6
Add the minced carrot and pickles to the mashed potatoes. Stir in the 1/2 tsp salt and 2 tsp sugar. Mix well while the potatoes are still warm to ensure the seasonings are evenly distributed.
Step 7
Next, incorporate 2 tbsp mayonnaise, 1/2 tbsp mustard, and 3 tbsp milk. Mix everything together until well combined. If the potato salad seems too stiff, add an extra tablespoon or two of milk to reach your desired consistency.
Step 8
Using a knife, carefully slice the top part of each morning bun, creating an opening to fill without cutting all the way through. Be gentle to avoid crumbling the buns.
Step 9
On one side of the opened morning bun, place a slice of ham, followed by a slice of cheddar cheese. Then, evenly divide the potato salad filling among the four buns, filling them generously. Your delicious Morning Bun Potato Sandwiches are now ready to be enjoyed!
