Cooking Instructions
Step 1
A perfect match for fatty meats! Let’s make a fragrant Chamnamul Salad! ♬♪
Step 2
Trim off any yellow or wilted leaves from the Chamnamul. Lightly trim the very bottom of the stems if needed.
Step 3
Place the washed Chamnamul in a bowl and fill it with enough water to fully submerge the greens.
Step 4
Add a splash of vinegar to the water and let the Chamnamul soak for about 5 minutes. This step helps remove any residual pesticides and enhances freshness. Afterwards, rinse the greens 2-3 times under running water and drain well.
Step 5
Cut the Chamnamul into bite-sized pieces, about 5-7 cm long.
Step 6
Now, let’s prepare the delicious salad dressing.
Step 7
Combine all the dressing ingredients for the Chamnamul salad in a bowl. (Measurements using a standard Korean rice spoon): Mix 1 Tbsp minced garlic, 3 Tbsp soup soy sauce, 2 Tbsp fish sauce, 3 Tbsp red pepper flakes, 1 Tbsp sugar, and 1 Tbsp plum extract until well combined.
Step 8
Add the prepared Chamnamul to the dressing and gently toss to coat.
Step 9
Mix the greens evenly with the dressing. Be careful not to mix too vigorously, as this can bruise the delicate Chamnamul.
Step 10
Once the Chamnamul is evenly coated with the dressing, add 2 Tbsp of sesame oil and 1 Tbsp of toasted sesame seeds. Toss gently once more.
Step 11
The fragrant Chamnamul Salad is now complete, with the added richness of sesame oil and seeds!
Step 12
Enjoy a delicious meal with this Chamnamul Salad, which perfectly preserves the refreshing aroma and taste of the greens.
