Key Ingredients
  • 8 fresh tangerines
  • A little baking soda (for washing)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, prepare to wash the tangerines thoroughly. Fill a bowl with plenty of water, add about a tablespoon of baking soda, stir well, and soak all 8 tangerines for 20 minutes. This step effectively removes any residual pesticides or impurities from the tangerine peel.

Step 2

After 20 minutes, take the tangerines out of the baking soda water and rinse them several times under clean, running water. Make sure to wash away any remaining baking soda residue from between the peels. Then, use paper towels or a clean cloth to pat the surface of the tangerines completely dry.

Step 3

Now it’s time to prepare the tangerines. For 5 of the 8 tangerines, we will only use the peel. Carefully peel the tangerines and then cut the peels into thick shreds. For the remaining 3 tangerines, we will use the whole fruit, so slice them evenly about 0.5 cm thick, preserving their shape. By making both dried peel and slices, you can enjoy a richer flavor.

Step 4

Arrange the shredded tangerine peels and the tangerine slices on the dehydrator trays, making sure they don’t overlap. Set the dehydrator to 60 degrees Celsius (140 degrees Fahrenheit) and dry for about 10 hours. Your delicious dried tangerine slices and peel will be ready when the tangerines are completely dehydrated and have a chewy texture. The drying time may vary depending on your dehydrator and the thickness of the slices, so check periodically and adjust as needed.
