Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, thoroughly wash the fresh radish and julienne it into uniform strips about 2-3mm thick. Keeping the radish crisp is key.
Step 2
For the seasoning, measure out 0.3 Tbsp (approx. 1/3 tsp) of minced garlic. Finely chop the scallions after cleaning them. The fresh aroma of scallions will enhance the flavor of your seaweed salad.
Step 3
Place the julienned radish in a bowl. Add 0.2 tsp (approx. 1/5 tsp) of salt and 0.4 tsp (approx. 2/5 tsp) of sugar for salting the radish. The sugar will help draw out moisture and add a touch of sweetness.
Step 4
Use a spoon to gently toss the radish with the salt and sugar, ensuring they are well combined. Let the radish salt for about 10-15 minutes. Afterward, squeeze out as much liquid as possible with your hands. This step makes the radish extra crunchy.
Step 5
Place the clean seaweed in a bowl and gently loosen it with your hands. Separating the tangled strands will allow the seasoning to be absorbed evenly.
Step 6
Fill the bowl with enough water to cover the seaweed. Add 1 Tbsp of coarse sea salt. The coarse salt helps remove impurities from the seaweed and eliminates any unpleasant fishy taste.
Step 7
Gently massage and rinse the seaweed with your hands to clean it thoroughly. You can also rinse it under running water or change the water multiple times until it runs clear. While washing, carefully pick out and discard any debris like small pieces of other seaweed or foreign objects.
Step 8
After thoroughly cleaning, squeeze out excess water from the seaweed with your hands and return it to the bowl. Then, gently rub the seaweed between your hands to break it up and make it tender. This ensures the seasoning can penetrate well.
Step 9
Now it’s time to season the seaweed. In the bowl, add 0.8 Tbsp (approx. 4/5 tsp) of soy sauce, 0.2 Tbsp (approx. 1/5 tsp) of sugar, 1 Tbsp of vinegar, and 0.3 Tbsp (approx. 1/3 tsp) of soup soy sauce. For hygiene, wear disposable gloves and gently mix the seaweed with your hands until the seasoning is evenly distributed.
Step 10
Add the squeezed radish to the bowl with the seasoned seaweed. Now, add the minced garlic and chopped scallions. The pungent garlic and fresh scallion aroma will elevate the flavor of your seaweed salad.
Step 11
Gently toss everything together again with your hands to ensure all ingredients are well combined. It’s important for the seaweed, radish, and seasoning to meld together harmoniously.
Step 12
Finally, taste and adjust the seasoning. If it’s not salty enough, add another pinch or two of salt or a little more soy sauce. If it needs more tanginess, add more vinegar to your preference and mix lightly.
Step 13
Once all the seasonings are well incorporated into the seaweed and radish, your delicious seaweed salad is complete! Enjoy the crisp texture and the fresh taste of the sea.
