Shrimp Avocado Salad Ingredients- Generous amount of fresh lettuce
- 5 plump shrimp
- 1 ripe avocado
- 1 fresh tomato
- Pinch of whole black pepper
Special Dressing Ingredients- 1 Tbsp minced garlic
- 1 Tbsp extra virgin olive oil
- 1 Tbsp soy sauce
- 1 Tbsp lemon syrup (or lemon marmalade)
- 1 Tbsp minced garlic
- 1 Tbsp extra virgin olive oil
- 1 Tbsp soy sauce
- 1 Tbsp lemon syrup (or lemon marmalade)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Thoroughly wash the fresh lettuce under running water. After washing, ensure all excess water is removed using a colander or paper towels. This step is crucial to prevent the salad from becoming watery and losing its flavor.
Step 2
Add 1 tablespoon of cooking wine (mirin or similar) to boiling water before adding the shrimp. This helps to eliminate any fishy odors, making the shrimp more palatable. Cook the shrimp for about 2-3 minutes, then remove and rinse them under cold water to prepare.
Step 3
Cut the ripe avocado in half, remove the pit, peel it, and then slice it thinly. Slicing them not too thick will ensure they blend well with the other ingredients in the salad.
Step 4
Wash the fresh tomato, remove the stem, and cut it into bite-sized pieces, similar in size to the avocado slices.
Step 5
Arrange the dried lettuce on a large plate. Artfully place the avocado slices, cooked shrimp, and prepared tomato pieces on top of the lettuce. Finish by freshly grinding some whole black pepper over the salad; this significantly enhances the aroma and flavor.
Step 6
Now, let’s make the special dressing to enhance your salad! In a small bowl, combine 1 tablespoon of minced garlic, 1 tablespoon of olive oil, 1 tablespoon of soy sauce, and 1 tablespoon of lemon syrup. Whisk everything together until well combined and the ingredients are evenly distributed.
Step 7
Finally, generously drizzle the prepared dressing over the salad. Your fresh and delicious shrimp avocado salad is ready! If you’re using fresh lemon juice instead of lemon syrup, consider adding a few thin slices of lemon on top for an extra visual appeal and a brighter, zesty flavor.
