Guacamole Ingredients

  • 2 ripe avocados
  • 4 cherry tomatoes (or 1 regular tomato)
  • 1/2 red onion (or white onion)
  • 1 fresh lemon
  • Pinch of salt (approx. 1/4 tsp)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Prepare all the vegetables. Wash the cherry tomatoes and onion thoroughly, then dice them into small cubes. Removing the seeds from the tomatoes before dicing will help reduce excess moisture. If you find raw onion too strong, soaking it in cold water for a few minutes can mellow its flavor.

Step 1

Step 2

Cut the avocados in half, remove the pits, then scoop out the flesh. Avocados can brown quickly when exposed to air, so it’s crucial to squeeze lemon juice over them immediately. If you enjoy a tangier flavor, generously squeeze the juice of one lemon all over the avocado flesh. Lemon juice not only prevents browning but also enhances the overall flavor of the guacamole.

Step 2

Step 3

Add the diced tomatoes and onion to the avocado. Pour the lemon juice and a pinch of salt (about 1/4 tsp) over the mixture. Use a spoon or fork to gently mash the avocado, mixing everything together lightly. It’s best to leave some chunks for texture rather than mashing it completely smooth. (Tip: If your avocado is too firm, let it ripen at room temperature for a while, or briefly warm it in the microwave for about 30 seconds while still in its skin to soften it.)

Step 3

Step 4

Taste the simply prepared avocado guacamole. Adjust the seasoning with more salt or lemon juice according to your preference. For a more complex flavor, you can add a little chopped cilantro or jalapeño. Homemade guacamole is just as delicious as store-bought salsa and offers a healthy, fresh taste.

Step 4

Step 5

The freshly made guacamole is best enjoyed immediately. For children, spread a generous amount on soft bread for a wonderful snack. Adults can dip crispy nacho chips into the guacamole and enjoy it with wine. It’s also perfect as a party appetizer or a light snack with beer.
