How to Make Delicious Fruit Cocktail Fried Rice
A delightful fried rice recipe that’s quick and easy to make, using canned fruit cocktail and leftover rice. Its unique flavor and vibrant colors are sure to whet your appetite, making it a hit with both kids and adults.
Ingredients- 100g Fruit Cocktail (canned)
- 1 Korean Green Chili Pepper
- 1/2 Green Onion (scallion)
- 210g Cooked Rice (warm)
- 1 tsp Minced Garlic
- 0.5 tsp Salt
- A pinch of Black Pepper
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare the canned fruit cocktail. Drain it thoroughly using a sieve, letting out all the syrup. Gently pat the fruit dry. This step is crucial to prevent your fried rice from becoming soggy.
Step 2
Wash the Korean green chili pepper, remove its stem, and shake out the seeds if you prefer less heat. Finely chop it into small pieces. If you enjoy a spicier kick, you can leave some seeds in. For milder flavor or if children will be eating, consider using a red bell pepper instead.
Step 3
Wash the green onion well, then thinly slice both the white and green parts. The aromatic fragrance released when the green onion is sautéed will significantly enhance the overall flavor of your fried rice.
Step 4
It’s best to use warm cooked rice for fried rice. If you have leftover cold rice, warm it up in the microwave for a minute or two. Warm rice grains separate easily, allowing for a perfectly fluffy and delicious fried rice.
Step 5
Heat a wok or large skillet over high heat. Add cooking oil, then add the sliced green onions and minced garlic. Sauté them vigorously until the green onions release their fresh aroma and the garlic becomes fragrant, infusing the oil. Be careful not to burn the garlic and onions.
Step 6
Once the aroma from the green onions and garlic is prominent, add the warm cooked rice to the pan. Continue to stir-fry over high heat, breaking up any clumps of rice with your spatula. Season with salt and black pepper at this stage. Ensure the seasoning is evenly distributed amongst the rice grains.
Step 7
When the rice starts to become fluffy and well-fried, add the drained fruit cocktail pieces and the chopped green chili pepper. Stir-fry everything quickly over high heat until well combined. Gently mix to avoid mashing the fruit. The sweet burst from the fruit, the hint of spice from the chili, and the savory rice create a uniquely delightful fried rice.
