Flavorful Garlic Fried Rice You Can Make at Home
Here’s a delightful garlic fried rice recipe, inspired by the famous TV chef Baek Jong-won, perfect for enjoying with your favorite kimchi! This recipe uses a generous amount of garlic but minimizes its pungent aroma, focusing instead on a rich, savory flavor that’s incredibly satisfying. Let’s get cooking this delicious garlic fried rice!
Ingredients- 5 cloves garlic
- 1 Tbsp minced garlic
- 1 bowl cooked rice (approx. 200g)
- 1 Tbsp soy sauce
- 1/2 tsp butter
- Pinch of black pepper
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare 5 cloves of garlic. Peel them and slice thinly into slivers. Heat a generous amount of grapeseed oil in a pan over medium-low heat. Add the sliced garlic and stir-fry gently. Be careful not to burn the garlic; cook until it releases its fragrant aroma.
Step 2
Once the sliced garlic turns a nice golden brown, add 1 tablespoon of minced garlic. Continue to stir-fry for about 30 seconds to 1 minute more, allowing the minced garlic to become fragrant and slightly golden. Keep the heat at medium-low and watch closely to prevent burning.
Step 3
When all the garlic is beautifully browned, push the ingredients to one side of the pan to create space. Pour 1 tablespoon of soy sauce into the empty space and let it sizzle for a moment. This will caramelize the soy sauce and add a deep layer of flavor.
Step 4
As the soy sauce begins to bubble, add 1 bowl of warm, cooked rice to the pan. Use a spatula or spoon to break up any clumps of rice and stir everything together thoroughly. Ensure the rice is evenly coated with the garlic and soy sauce mixture. Stir-frying well is key to infusing every grain with flavor.
Step 5
Once the rice is well combined with the garlic and soy sauce and looks glossy, add about 1/2 teaspoon of butter. Stir quickly to melt the butter and coat the rice evenly. The butter adds a wonderful richness and a smooth texture. Just before turning off the heat, sprinkle with a pinch of black pepper to finish.
Step 6
Transfer the finished garlic fried rice to a serving bowl. For an extra touch of flavor and visual appeal, sprinkle with sesame seeds. This savory and healthy garlic fried rice is absolutely delicious served alongside crisp kimchi or a refreshing soup!
