Garlic-Infused Broccoli Fried Rice
Simple & Nutritious Broccoli Fried Rice with a Garlic Kick

Broccoli Fried Rice Ingredients- 1 large handful of broccoli (approx. 150g)
- Ham (similar amount to broccoli)
- 1/4 carrot
- 8 slices of garlic
- 4 Tbsp olive oil
- 1.5 Tbsp oyster sauce
- 1.5 bowls of cooked rice
- 2 eggs
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Prepare the broccoli first. Bring a pot of water to a boil, add a pinch of salt, and blanch the broccoli for about 1 minute. This enhances its vibrant color and crisp texture. Rinse the blanched broccoli under cold water, drain well, and chop into bite-sized pieces (about 1-2 cm). (A large handful is sufficient for 2 servings of fried rice.)
Step 2
Chop the other ingredients for the fried rice into similar sizes. Dice the ham and carrot slightly smaller than the broccoli pieces. Thinly slice the garlic cloves.
Step 3
Heat 4 tablespoons of olive oil in a pan over medium-low heat. Add the thinly sliced garlic and sauté slowly until fragrant and lightly golden brown. Be careful not to burn the garlic, as this will affect the flavor.
Step 4
Once the garlic is fragrant, add the diced carrots (since they are harder) and stir-fry for about 1 minute until they start to soften slightly.
Step 5
Add the diced ham and blanched broccoli to the pan. Stir-fry together for about 2-3 minutes until all ingredients are well combined. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
Step 6
While the vegetables are stir-frying, have 1.5 bowls of cooked rice ready. Add the rice to the pan with the sautéed ingredients. Drizzle 1.5 tablespoons of oyster sauce evenly over the rice and vegetables. Use a spatula to break up any clumps of rice and stir everything together until well combined. The oyster sauce adds a wonderful savory depth.
Step 7
As the fried rice nears completion, push the rice mixture to one side of the pan to create space. Crack the 2 eggs into the empty space. Scramble the eggs using chopsticks or a spatula until they are just cooked and fluffy. Once the scrambled eggs are ready, gently mix them into the fried rice.
Step 8
When the scrambled eggs are evenly distributed throughout the fried rice, it creates a wonderfully soft texture and appealing appearance. Stir everything together one last time to ensure all flavors meld together beautifully.
Step 9
