Garlic Soy Chicken Sauce
Effortless Garlic Soy Chicken Sauce Using a Rice Cooker
Don’t throw away leftover fried chicken! Transform it into delicious garlic soy chicken quickly and easily using your rice cooker. This recipe is an adaptation of a popular method, allowing you to enjoy restaurant-quality flavor at home. The rice cooker’s ‘reheat’ function prevents burning, making it safe and simple for even beginner cooks.
Main Ingredients- 5 pieces of fried chicken
Garlic Soy Sauce Mixture- 5 Tbsp regular soy sauce
- 2 Tbsp cooking wine (mirin, etc.)
- 2.5 Tbsp sugar
- 2 Tbsp honey (or corn syrup)
- 2 tsp garlic powder (or minced garlic)
- 1 tsp beef bouillon powder (or chicken stock)
- 5 Tbsp regular soy sauce
- 2 Tbsp cooking wine (mirin, etc.)
- 2.5 Tbsp sugar
- 2 Tbsp honey (or corn syrup)
- 2 tsp garlic powder (or minced garlic)
- 1 tsp beef bouillon powder (or chicken stock)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Tossing the fried chicken in sauce before refrigerating helps minimize the crispiness from becoming soggy. Prepare 5 pieces of store-bought fried chicken. If the chicken pieces are very large, feel free to cut them into smaller, manageable portions.
Step 2
While regular pots can easily scorch sauces, a rice cooker with its ‘reheat’ function allows you to safely create a delicious sauce without burning. In the inner pot of your rice cooker, combine 5 Tbsp soy sauce, 2 Tbsp cooking wine, 2.5 Tbsp sugar, 2 tsp garlic powder, 2 Tbsp honey, and 1 tsp beef bouillon powder. Stir well to combine. (Tip: If your fried chicken tastes a bit bland, you can increase the soy sauce to 6 Tbsp. Minced garlic can also be used instead of garlic powder according to your preference!)
Step 3
Select the ‘reheat’ function on your rice cooker and cook for approximately 9 minutes. The sauce will bubble and thicken, with the ingredients melding together to create a flavorful garlic soy sauce. Stirring once during cooking will enhance the consistency.
Step 4
With the garlic soy sauce ready, gently tilt the rice cooker and add the fried chicken pieces one by one, coating each piece evenly with the sauce. Coating the chicken while it’s still warm allows the sauce to penetrate better and gives it a glossy finish.
Step 5
Finish by sprinkling sesame seeds generously over the top for a visually appealing garlic soy chicken. Enjoy immediately while warm for a delightful balance of crispy coating and tender chicken infused with savory sauce. This dish also makes a satisfying meal when served with rice.
